Class Note 2013

Issue

July-August 2021

Hi, ’13s. Happy summer! Many updates this edition—let’s get to them.

We have several new graduates in our midst! John Hanna graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine and matched into orthopedic surgery residency at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital. In June he moved to Providence, Rhode Island, with his partner, Melissa. Julie Fiveash graduated from UCLA’s department of information studies with a master’s of library and information studies in June. She is excited to be done and is on the job hunt. Chris Norman graduated from the University of Southern California’s master of urban planning program in May. They currently work in a dual role between the City of Oakland and a national nonprofit, PolicyLink, to advance local housing and racial equity policies. John Ceremsak graduated medical school and is heading to Nashville to start residency in otolaryngology at Vanderbilt.

Kyle McGinty graduated from medical residency in psychiatry from the University of Iowa at the end of June and is sticking around to join the Iowa faculty as an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry, working with their eating disorder program. After working at North Face for six years, Thea Stutsman will be taking a break from the business world and is off to the London School of Economics to pursue a M.Sc. in gender, media, and culture.

We also have classmates moving across the country and starting new chapters! Caroline Liegey writes in that after five fantastic years in Colorado, she’ll be moving back East to begin business school at MIT’s Sloan School of Management this fall. She’d love to connect with anyone in Boston during the summer! Emmanuel Tecuatl-Lee and spouse James Tecuatl-Lee ’11 became homeowners in Austin, Texas, after living in the Bay Area for seven years. They are loving their new place and look forward to meeting up with Dartmouth family in the central Texas area now that they are settled and vaccinated. During their spare time, they are volunteering at vaccination clinics, home designing, and catching up with friends and family who are still into Zoom.

Garrett Wymore and Caroline Buck took the plunge (two times): They got engaged this past January and cofounded a sustainable dog food company together that launched in May 2020 (feedpetaluma.com)—amazing! Colin Harris and his wife, Calynn, welcomed their daughter, Audrey Mei Harris, on March 26 in Alexandria, Virginia. Congratulations!

Finally, but certainly not least, Victor Tsui completed his first triathlon ever, swimming in the chilly waters of the Thousand Island Lake in Hangzhou, China, and clocking in at 3 hours, 3 minutes. He loved the experience so much that he has already signed up for his second triathlon in May! He was cheered on by friends Henry Yan ’11 and wife Vivian Deng, who celebrated the rest of the day by going to a local beer factory.

Amazing updates—thank you to all who wrote!
