Following a global search, sport psychology scholar Duncan Simpson took the helm as inaugural executive director of the Kirsten and Eugene F. “Buddy” Teevens ’79 Center for Peak Performance, which opened this fall.

“Performance is complex, and every student is on their own journey,” says Simpson, who spent eight years as head of mental conditioning and director of personal development at IMG Academy, a sports-training prep school in Bradenton, Florida. “You have to take the time to understand their goals and then align support to help get them there.”

Although the center is focused on elevating varsity athletic performance, Simpson also plans to extend elements of the Peak Performance program to all undergrads and drive research and innovation in performance science.
