Class Note 2001
Issue
November-December 2024
Almost another year in the books, ’01s. Mike Calarco and his wife, Katie (Slugocki, Michigan ’09), welcomed Miles Patrick to the world in June. Mike reports that “his sister Lucie is stoked to have someone small in the house to play with! We are enjoying spending more time outside as a family in what has been a milder August in northern California. I continue to enjoy caring for heart surgery patients in the greater Sacramento area and will be having a go at my second (half) Ironman triathlon event back in New York at the end of this September. Sending lots of love back to Hanover and our ’01 class!” Brianne Johnsen just met up with Katie Gayman and Jen (Murray) Talmadge to attend a women’s fantasy soccer camp in the Berkshires, where they enjoyed the coaching expertise of Mia Hamm, Kristine Lily, and Tish (Venturini) Hoch and celebrated the 25th anniversary of the legendary ’99ers U.S. Women’s National Team World Cup win. Shazia Omar wrote in to report that she and her family and friends were safe in the midst of the political upheaval in Bangladesh this past summer.
Finally, as some of you may have heard, Kate Cunningham passed away from cancer in November of 2023. In June Erica (Frankenberg) Kissling, Betsy Timbers, Julie (Berteletti) McDonald, and Delphine Sherman attended a celebration of life for Kate in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As Delphine describes, “It was the most touching celebration—the tent was packed with people from all parts of Kate’s life, yet all the stories shared were consistent: Kate was the most present, loving, smart, and caring friend, colleague, mom, wife, sister, daughter, and community member. We miss her every day.” Thinking of you all.
