Class Note 2001

Issue

September-October 2024

Hello, ’01s! Just 20 years after minoring in film studies, Kristina Klebe is happy to report that she “finally” wrote, directed, and produced her directorial film debut. Based on her own experiences in recovering from a broken back resulting from a horseback riding accident, Kristina describes Noxturne as a true independent film made on a minuscule budget but with a lot of heart. It was a true Dartmouth effort, with a cameo from Alex Morris ’02 and her daughter as well as important feedback from former professor Jim Brown and Deb Knox ’02. In the midst of this all, Kristina also went to the premiere of The Great Gatsby musical (by Marc Bruni ’00), where she ran into Ben Mandelker and Abby Corcoran ’02. In the world of academia, Boulat Bash was recently promoted to associate professor of electrical engineering with tenure at the University of Arizona. He and Gail (Sweeney) Bash ’03 are doing well enjoying the desert in Tucson. Miena Meek Hall recently completed a fellowship in breastfeeding and lactation medicine at the University of Rochester and is now attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a primary care research fellowship. Miena and her family also recently celebrated her eldest son’s graduation from Caltech!

We have some ’01s traveling recently. Andrew Trief visited Israel a few months ago to learn more about the situation unfolding in the Middle East. Evelyn Chen was back on campus for the 25th anniversary of the Dartmouth Asian Pacific American Alumni Association with other ’01s in attendance, including Joyce Lee and Kate Norton. Evelyn described the event as “an amazing multigenerational, educational, inspiring experience” and hopes that even more friends join her next time. Until next time!
