Class Note 1968

Issue

September-October 2024

After more than three years of fascinating presentations, the class webinar series has ended. Thanks to the 50th reunion special interest presenters who inspired the online follow-ups and to the class members and officers (Bell, Wonson, Waterhouse, Lawrie, and Peck) who fostered the program. Every stimulating session is on the class website.

A recent, non-webinar online gathering of classmates who were in the Peace Corps provided colleagues the opportunity to share experiences and current issues of interest. Participant Peter Hofman sent a list of attendees, many of whose names we haven’t seen here in quite some time and whose service we proudly acknowledge: Russell Andrews, Mark Battin, Tom Brewer, Charles Gay, David Goldenberg, Sherwood Guernsey, Jim Henle, Henry Homeyer, Ted Kloth, Jon Moody, and David Williams.

Another form of service continues to be provided by retired chaplain of the U.S. Navy, Rabbi Arnie Resnicoff, who let us know of his appointment to the advisory board of the National Museum of American Religion, which plans to open its first exhibit in Washington, D.C., next summer.

Clark Wadlow started a startling correspondence after viewing a Dartmouth vs. Columbia basketball poster I’d forwarded from a Paris Metro station. It seems he had been at another Metro stop in the 1980s and seen a photo of his father’s cousin, who was the tallest man who ever lived at 8-foot-10! (Clark is 5-foot-10, by the way.)

Attend the class meeting in early October (in Hanover or via Zoom) and get on the class committee email list. That way, you can participate in enjoyable and challenging online discussions, where topics recently included Federer, campus protests, and favorite Billy Joel tunes. (Most cited of the last: “It’s Still Rock’n’Roll to Me,” “Movin’ Out,” “Only the Good Die Young,” and “Piano Man.”)
