Class Note 1958
Issue
March-April 2025
The awkward timing that called for Class Notes to be delivered before December month-end found us in Niwot, Colorado, away from computers and memory-refreshing notes of items worthy of publication. Those were sparse anyway, as usual! It’s also a time of year when class activities are slack. However, there’s never a slack time to send in class dues with a generous addition for class projects. Mike Simberkoff is anxiously awaiting your payments. I’ve been amazed how often widows of classmates react to notes reinforcing the importance of us all sending in squibs and tidbits that others find interesting. In the last The Sound & Fury I noted that the class of 1958 has a long-dormant Facebook “Friends” page. I invited those who may still have an interest in rekindling the fire under that group to join if not yet a member or to post interesting stuff if you are. Widows are encouraged to become members. Mel Croner did just that by posting an old memory decked in a bright yellow slicker needed for the rain pouring down upon him someplace in Europe. Larry Hampton sent holiday greetings from elsewhere in Europe while sadly noting another classmate’s passing (noted below). Gary Finerty had sent along the same news, commenting that Dan Varty had been present at the passing and would officiate at a service. As noted above, recent deaths reported have been for Don Klages plus James Pringle, Ralph Manuel, and Jack Stromberg.
