Clark W. Bryant ’57

Clark W. Bryant ’57 passed away on August 18 at Martin-Linsin Residence in Albion, New York. Clark graduated from Lansdowne (Pennsylvania) High School. He majored in sociology and was active in Gamma Delta Chi, Dartmouth Christian Union, Dartmouth Outing Club, and Human Rights Club (vice president). He earned his medical degree from Temple University Medical School in 1961. After completing an internship at Williamsport (Pennsylvania) Hospital, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1964 as a general medical officer with the rank of captain. He did his residency in internal medicine at the medical center in Burlington, Vermont, from 1965 to 1967. In 1967 Clark established a private medical practice in Middlebury, Vermont, and served this small, rural community for more than 40 years. An accomplished physician, he said his sociology major was invaluable in dealing with persons of a different race, religion, or culture. He was chief of staff for Porter Medical Center in Middlebury. He was regional medical examiner for Addison County, Vermont, and medical director of Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury. In 2000 he joined Oak Orchard Health in Albion, practicing family medicine until retirement. Clark belonged to medical societies, churches, and civic organizations in Vermont and New York. He was an avid alpine and Nordic skier throughout Europe, enjoyed golf, and collected HO model trains. He supported Dartmouth as a class agent for 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Donna, two sons, and three daughters.
