Carl Edward Levick ’74

Carl Edward Levick ’74,M.D., of Bristol, Rhode Island, died on May 8, 2021, after a long battle with brain cancer. Carl came to Hanover from Andover, Massachusetts, where he excelled in music and mathematics, played trumpet in all-state band, and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. At Dartmouth he was a member of Heorot, ski team during freshman year, ski patrol, and band during freshman and sophomore years. Carl graduated magna cum laude with highest distinction in psychology. He pursued his medical studies at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed his residency at the Miriam Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. Upon meeting his future wife, Rebecca Primiano, a respiratory therapist, they moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. They returned two years later to start a family in Concord, New Hampshire. Carl worked for nearly 30 years as a cardiologist, managing Cardiology Associates of New Hampshire, before moving to Bermuda to work for three and a half years at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. Carl then settled in Bristol, but he was too restless to retire. He took his final cardiology post at Newport (Rhode Island) Hospital before retiring at the end of 2016. Carl was an avid hiker, scaling all of New Hampshire’s 4,000-foot peaks; a passionate skier, serving on the Wildcat Mountain ski patrol; a recreational cyclist, prolific artist, and capable sailor. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; sons Scott and Andrew; brother Bruce; sister Marilyn; and parents Dwight and Cora.
