Burton Alan Russman ’52

Burton Alan Russman ’52, M.D., passed away on March 3, 2011. He was a resident of Evanston, Illinois, at the time of his passing. He served as an enlisted man in the U.S. Army for 18 months before entering Dartmouth with the class of 1952. He prepared for college at Somerville (Massachusetts) High School. Burt left Dartmouth after his junior year and transferred to the Northwestern University Medical School. He graduated in 1955 and began a career-long specialty in ophthalmology. In the mid-1960s he returned to school at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago while maintaining his medical practice. He received his law degree in 1970, passed the Illinois bar and did medical-legal consultations from that point forward. In 1953 Burt married Michele Finton, and they raised children Shirley and Philip; all survive him.
