Athena Robinson Randolph ’78

Athena Robinson Randolph ’78, M.D., died of cancer on October 25, 2019, in Lake City, Florida. Tina was born in Mississippi and grew up in Milwaukee. At Dartmouth she earned an A.B. in human development, was a Tucker Fellow, and met her future husband, Tommy Randolph ’78. They married in 1979. Both became pediatricians. Tina earned her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1985. She served families in Lake City, Florida, and surrounding areas for more than 30 years—the last 20 in a practice she cofounded with her husband. She was beloved by her patients. “She was in her second generation of patients,” Tommy told the local Lake City Reporter. “She was taking care of the children of the children she used to see.” In some cases, people brought their children back from distant cities to see her. “They say things like, ‘You were patient with me and my child; you didn’t give up until you found the diagnosis,’ ” Tommy told the newspaper. Tina is survived by her husband, daughter Avona, sons Cory and Aaron, and numerous other family members.
