Steven Eric Kurtz ’84

Steven Eric Kurtz ’84, Esq., died on December 27, 2010, of metastatic kidney cancer. After graduating from Duke Law School and working for some big law firms Steven decided he loved music and wanted to concentrate his work in the music industry. He established his own law firm and also an artist management company named Marquee Management. He discovered, developed and managed many recording and performing artists. His last known artist was Christina Aguilera, whom he developed and managed to a Grammy-winning superstar career. Steven’s talents evolved when he worked with numerous brands and entertainment companies, including BMG and Mattel. He devised and executed national marketing campaigns, negotiated endorsement and sponsorship agreements for Coca-Cola, Clorox, Levi’s, Proctor & Gamble, Bulgari and Sears with many of the musical talents he worked with. “Steven loved Dartmouth as I did,” says his father, Normand ’59. “We often talked of our days spent in Hanover and we returned often for Homecoming and other reunions.” To learn more about Steven’s life or to leave remembrances, please visit http://artiewayne.wordpress.com/2011/01/25/steven-kurtz-r-i-p-rock-in-pe....
