Robert Tracy Vostal ’57
Robert Tracy Vostal ’57 passed away April 11 at home in Jefferson City, Missouri. He grew up in New Jersey. At Dartmouth he majored in zoology, joined Alpha Delta Phi and Sphinx and played varsity soccer. A municipal bond specialist, Bob worked for a number of firms including First Boston, E.F. Hutton and W.H. Morton. He was a member of the Municipal Bond Club of New York and the revenue bond committee of the Securities Industry Association. For many years Bob lived in North Caldwell and Essex Fells, New Jersey, with his first wife, Barbara, who died in 1999. He served as borough council president and deputy mayor of North Caldwell and president of Essex Fells Country Club. He wintered at his condo in Naples, Florida, where he was past president of the condo association and met his second wife, Nancy. They were married in Jefferson City in 2002. In Missouri Bob became a member of the Jefferson City Country Club, First United Methodist Church and board of governors for Capital Region Medical Center. Bob and Nancy established the Vostal-Duggins Healing Garden at the Goldschmidt Cancer Center as a place of serenity for patients, their families and staff. He is survived by Nancy, two children, four stepchildren, 16 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Bob was a regular at the annual Naples ’57 mini-reunions. Although suffering from leukemia, he made a valiant effort to attend one final time in early March—a special visit with many close friends.
