Peter R. Betts ’48


Peter R. Betts ’48 died on June 23 in Dennisport, Massachusetts. He had a graveside funeral service with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts. He was raised in Watertown, Connecticut, and attended the Taft School there before entering Dartmouth, where he was a member of Psi Upsilon. He served during the Korean War as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Peter subsequently pursued two careers, one in the insurance industry, followed by a second in social work. He maintained a strict vegetarian diet and was actively interested in environmental and social causes. Peter, divorced from Marilyn, is survived by sons Jonathan and Eric and daughter Anne.
