Walker Ten Eyck Weed II ’40, the longtime editor of the class newsletter, The Drum, and the unofficial class historian, passed away on April 26, 2014, at the home of his daughter in Bozeman, Montana. Walker had just moved to Montana to be close to his son Walker and daughter Joan and their families. Just before he left his home in Etna, near Hanover, he celebrated his 95th birthday with a dinner with guests including his family and nearly 100 of his many friends from Dartmouth—met through his fine furniture wood crafting, canoeing adventures in the Arctic summers and many guided canoe trips down the Connecticut River to the sea. “His voice and his ability to keep us connected to each other and to our college will be greatly missed by all of us in the class of ’40,” said his friend and classmate Ned Jacoby.
