Raymond Dean Builter ’36 passed away on August 23, 2011, in Venice, Florida. He graduated Dartmouth cum laude and then joined the Army, serving in the Philippines during WW II as an officer. He married Genevieve “Jerri” Roberts (who predeceased him) and they and eventually moved to Fairfield, Connecticut, where they raised their family. He began his career at Connecticut Railway and Lighting Co., then worked for Remington Arms, and later was comptroller for Columbia Records, Schaefer Beer and the University of Bridgeport. Ray was very active in the community, serving the American Red Cross, Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce, Barnum Festival, Fairfield Library and other charities. Ray and Jerri were a common sight at the Fairfield Beach Club, where they created some of their fondest memories. Ray earned the Dartmouth Alumni Award in 2008. He served as class president, treasurer, agent and secretary and as club president, treasurer and secretary. He is survived by children Jan and husband Jeff, Dean and wife Linda, Paul and wife Leigh and Beth and husband Brien; grandchildren Todd, Kelly, Evan, Greta, Sadie, Justin, Amanda, Jason, Michael, Kate and Dean; and eight great-grandchildren.
