Jordan Harlan Eskin ’47 of the Bronx, New York, died on December 2, 2013. He grew up in Stamford, Connecticut, and attended Lawrenceville School. He started college as a civilian, then joined the V-12 unit. He majored in economics, served as assistant advertising manager for The Dartmouth and as assistant business manager for the Dartmouth Log. He was active in the Forensic Union and Radio Club and played intramural hockey. After discharge from the Navy as an ensign he earned an LL.D. from Yale Law School in 1950. He worked as an attorney maximizing shareholder values through finance, acquisitions, mergers and restoring shareholder rights. His work frequently involved testifying before the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He was active in the nonprofit organization Democracy for Stockholders. He was involved in preparing restructuring plans for Pan Am Airways and American Motors. During many years he was involved in proxy battles with several major corporations. His hobbies were his work, skiing and golf. He is survived by his wife and three children.
