Nov - Dec 2011

Donald Joseph Rochon ’59 died on June 20 in Bellingham, Washington, after a battle with cancer. Don entered Dartmouth from Carson City (Nevada) High School. While Don did not graduate with his Dartmouth class, he was supportive of the class as a dues-paying member and of the class project, Dartmouth Partners in Community Service. Don graduated from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and received his master’s in chemistry from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He worked as a chemist for the Hanford Atomic Products Plant in Richmond, Oregon before moving to Chicago and later to Bellingham, where he was a chemist for Atlantic Richfield. Don loved foreign travel, camping, taking various classes, classical music, jazz, puzzles and walking his dog in the Whatcom Falls Park. Don was fortunate to have a very close family. His wife of 50 years, Donna, children Hunt and Heather and three grandchildren survive him.
