Daniel Warren Poor Jr. ’36 died May 22 in Ipswich, Massachusetts, after a long illness. He came to Dartmouth from high school in Peabody, Massachusetts, his hometown, majored in economics and was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa. In July 1936 he started working for Sylvania Electric Products in the cost accounting department, staying with the same company until retirement in 1977. For several years early in his employment with Sylvania Dan took evening courses in accounting and allied subjects at Boston University School of Business Administration and thereafter his work at Sylvania was in various accounting capacities of an administrative and supervisory nature. He was active in community affairs, serving on the Ipswich finance committee and as a trustee of the Ipswich Public Library. He was also a member of the Wenham Country Club and a 50-year member of the John T. Heard Masonic Lodge AF&AM of Ipswich. For Dartmouth he was class agent (1988-2002) and fraternity/sorority agent (1983-87). Elizabeth, his wife of 69 years, and their children Richard and Judith survive him.
