William T. Boukalik ’65

William T. Boukalik ’65 passed away January 14. To Dartmouth classmates and Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) brothers, Bill was a serious, down-to-earth friend. Frank Burk ’65 remembered him as a catcher on the baseball team. David Mulliken ’65 said, “My memory of him is reliable, solid as a rock, both feet on the ground, never loquacious but precise and efficient when he did have something to say.” Bill graduated from Shaker Heights (Ohio) High School, where he was a standout in baseball, wrestling and football. At Dartmouth Bill was sports editor of The Dartmouth and treasurer of SAE. He received his law degree from Cornell after interning in Washington, D.C., where he assisted on the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. More important, he met his future wife, Lynn (Harrison), there in 1967. They married in 1968 and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Sons Will, Brian and James followed, and then seven beloved grandchildren. Bill became a partner with the Cleveland law firm Climaco, Goldberg & Boukalik. In 1973 he cofounded US Title Agency and in 1980 he and partner Gerry Goldberg left the law firm and concentrated on the title company full-time. Perhaps the perfect encapsulation of Bill’s life was passion. Whether it was for sports, his professional life, Christmas (a tree obviously too large for the home, lights over every nook and cranny of the front yard) or his family, Bill’s passion for everything that mattered to him was felt by everyone who knew him.
