William Louis Randall ’52
William Louis Randall ’52 of Mequon, Wisconsin, died in hospice care on June 23, 2014. Bill was born in Shorewood, Wisconsin, and graduated from University School of Milwaukee, where he excelled at tennis and academics. In 1952 he received a bachelor’s from Dartmouth, majoring in history. He was captain of the tennis team and a member of Phi Gamma Delta. He earned a law degree from the University of Michigan in 1956 and worked for 17 years as an attorney and partner with Shea, Hoyt, Greene, Randall and Meissner. Bill turned to banking as an executive at Midland National Bank, later First Bank Milwaukee and now U.S. Bank. He retired as chairman in 1993. He also was a trustee of the McBeath Foundation, serving two terms as board chairman. His other civic work included serving many organizations, most especially the Rotary Club of Milwaukee. He joined in 1959 and, in 1966, became, at 35, one of its youngest presidents. In addition Bill was a very active alumnus of Dartmouth. He served on the Alumni Council and was president of the council in 1980-81. He also served as president of his local alumni club and he was a frequent volunteer fundraiser. In 1986 Bill was honored with the prestigious Dartmouth Alumni Award. Bill’s father was Dartmouth, class of 1927. Bill is survived by his wife, Wendy, daughters Rebecca ’81 and Cynthia, sons Kip and Kevin ’85, sister Judy and five grandchildren.
