William Bell Roberts ’44

William Bell Roberts ’44 of Great Falls, Montana, died on December 27, 2015. After three years at Dartmouth he earned a degree in economics and served as an officer in the Pacific theater. In 1949 Bill joined B.P. McNair, a real estate and insurance business, which he later purchased. Through the years he received numerous awards from the insurance business and in 1990 retired as president of Roberts & Irwin Inc. He was involved in the Great Falls business community, serving on the boards of Great Falls Development Corp., C.M. Russell Museum, chamber of commerce and neighborhood housing services. He was an outdoorsman and fly fisherman and founded the Ski Bums, a group that grew to 100 men who skied the West, Canada, and Europe. He was also a Dartmouth club officer and alumni interviewer. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and two children.
