Walter Mac Lachlan Dingwall ’54
Walter Mac Lachlan Dingwall ’54 passed away in Sarasota, Florida, on December 2, 2013. Walt came to Dartmouth from Rumson, New Jersey, were he attended Rumson High School. At Dartmouth he was a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon and majored in sociology. After graduation he served as a first lieutenant in the Army during the Korean War. Upon leaving the service he moved to south Florida, earning his J.D. from the University of Florida in 1959. Walt then practiced law in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for nearly 40 years, retiring and moving to Boone, North Carolina, in 2001. He managed a 52-acre farm there, growing vegetables. While living in Fort Lauderdale he was a member of the Masons, Rotary Club and Red Cross and sat on various boards. Walt is survived by his wife, Wendy and his daughters Lori and Leigh ’88.
