Stuart L. Craig ’48

Stuart L. Craig ’48 of Danville, Virginia, died on October 24, 2015. Stu was born in 1926 and attended Woodberry Forest (Virginia) School before coming to Dartmouth, where he was a member of Gamma Delta Chi. He subsequently took his law degree at the University of Virginia Law School. In 1950 he married the former Eleanor Spencer. After law school Stu practiced law in New York City with Gordon, Reindel & Ohl before coming to Danville with Clement, Wheatley, Winston, & Craig. He served as a judge in the 22nd Circuit of Virginia for 10 years before joining Carter, Craig & Bass. Stu retired in 2002 after devoting 50 years to the law. He and Eleanor enjoyed traveling extensively in the United States, Canada and many foreign countries. His other interests included photography, golf, music, reading and attending races at Virginia International Raceway. He is survived by Eleanor; son David and his, wife, Allison; daughter Pamela; daughter in-law Kristine; and their families. He was predeceased by son Stuart Jr.
