Steven Robert Moody ’60

Steven Robert Moody ’60 passed away at home on November 17, 2015. He was born in Dover, New Hampshire, and was adopted by Alton and Isabelle Moody. Steven grew up in Nashua, New Hampshire, graduating in 1956 from Nashua High School, where he played basketball and football. At Dartmouth Steve majored in English and was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta, where he served as recording secretary. Following graduation he entered officers training in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in Millington, Tennessee, and eventually was discharged from the U.S. Naval Reserve as a lieutenant in 1968. In 1961 he married Marla Hildreth. He is survived by Marla; children David and Susan ’87; grandchildren Emily, Steven, Julia, Ryan and Shane; daughter-in-law Leanne; and son-in-law Jason. Steve was an importer of menswear, selling to large discounters. He traveled extensively in the Orient and ran his own business in New York City. Steve and Marla lived in Marlboro, Massachusetts, and Croton-on Hudson, New York, and retired to Moody Beach, Maine. Steve was an avid reader who also enjoyed political discussions, art, golf, cycling, the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots and, most of all, his family. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service was held at the Bibber Memorial Chapel in Kennebunk, Maine.
