Stephen L. Larson ’60

Stephen L. Larson ’60, M.D., died on November 15, 2013, at his suburban Minneapolis home after being shot by an intruder while packing for his family’s move to Arizona following his approaching retirement. At the time of the incident his family was in Arizona preparing their new home for the move. Steve was a widely recognized and respected obstetrician/gynecologist who had practiced in Minnesota for more than 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Lucinda; children Christopher, Stephanie, Stacey and Mark; five grandchildren; and brothers Richard, Philip ’58 and David. A private family service was held. Before matriculating to Dartmouth Steve was educated at the Blake School in Minneapolis, where he graduated with Mike Hollern ’60 and Chuck Cole ’60. At Dartmouth Steve majored in mathematics and was a member of Phi Delta Theta, manager of the freshman hockey team and a member of the Dartmouth Athletic Council for three years. Following his undergraduate studies Steve attended Dartmouth Medical School before entering McGill University’s School of Medicine, where he earned his M.D. Donations in his memory may be made to the Mayo Clinic Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 200 First St. SW, Rochester, MN 55905, or to the Fairview Foundation, Southdale Moms and Babies Fund, 2344 Energy Park Drive, St. Paul, MN 55108.
