Roy Harrison Kirch Jr. ’43

Roy Harrison Kirch Jr. ’43 died March 13. Roy was raised in Maplewood, New Jersey, and graduated from Columbia High School, where he was on the staff of the school paper and yearbook, a member of the band and on the swimming team. At Dartmouth he majored in English, attended Tuck School and was a member of Delta Tau Delta, Bones Gate, the Marching Band and the Green Collegians. After graduating from Dartmouth Roy served in the Navy aboard the USS Indiana in the South Pacific. Roy had a successful business career, first in a family-owned retail business and then as an institutional stockbroker. In the latter position he served clients in the New Jersey and Pennsylvania area. An avid bridge player, he also enjoyed tennis and paddle tennis. He and his wife, Lillian Nelles Kirch, whom he married in 1945, traveled extensively. Roy was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey. He is survived by Lillian, son Roy III (and his wife, Barbara), daughters Ellen and Linda, two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
