Rosbon Daniel Bridger Whedbee ’62
Rosbon Daniel Bridger Whedbee ’62 passed away on September 28, 2012, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. “Ros” was born and raised in the hills of North Carolina. He prepared for Dartmouth at Northwood School in Lake Placid, New York. He was an ardent English major and developed related skills that eventually took him into a career in law. Before law beckoned, Ros enlisted in the U.S. Army immediately upon graduation in May 1962. Following completion of his three-year enlistment, Ros graduated from Officer Candidate School and served as a commissioned officer until 1969. He was a Green Beret in Vietnam for 33 months of that period. Ros was justly proud of the combined total of 13 decorations he received for his service. Following completion of military obligations, he entered law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1972. He established his first practice in Ahoskie, North Carolina, his hometown, later moving to Winston-Salem, where he became well known as a trial lawyer. Ros was preceded in death by his wife, Maralyn, in 2006. Surviving are his daughters, Tanya and Danielle, and granddaughter Leila.
