Robin J. Williams ’66

Robin J. Williams ’66 of Wrentham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully with his family present on April 5 in the Maples Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wrentham. Born in Dickinson, North Dakota, on July 24, 1944, he was a son of the late Richard and Rachel Williams. He was a graduate of Linton High School. At Dartmouth Robin was a history major and a member of the Marching Band for four years. He then graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and devoted his life’s work to teaching. His career as a middle school teacher in Foxboro, Massachusetts, spanned 35 years prior to retirement. He was an innovator and a leader in the profession, serving two terms as Foxboro Education Association president. He had a particular passion for sharing the joy of reading with his young charges, routinely reading out loud to his students at least 15 minutes a day. Robin was also an extraordinary storyteller, sharing this avocation with both his public school students and campers at Camp Lanakila in Fairlee, Vermont. He was employed as a summer camp counselor for more than two decades at Camp Lanakila. He was an active member of the Original Congregational Church in Wretham, where he sang in its choir. In earlier years he loved hiking, camping, canoeing and playing golf. Robin is survived by sons Benjamin and Evan and their wives, brothers Larry and Bruce, sister Cheryl, grandson Elias and former spouse Mary.
