Robert Wallace Burgess ’63

Robert Wallace Burgess ’63 died June 18, 2011, at his home in East Orleans, Massachusetts. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. At Dartmouth Bob worked on The Daily Dartmouth and WDCR and was a brother of Kappa Kappa Kappa. Bob retired as senior vice president with Cigna, where he served as chief financial officer of the investment division. In 1990 he joined the board of Atwood Oceanics, a Houston-based international drilling contractor, and became chairman of the audit committee. Bob was a lifelong Red Sox fan and loved Dartmouth. He enjoyed boating, running in all weather, travel, music and films. He was an excellent skier and shared his love and skill with many. Bob is survived by his wife, Judie; children Bruce and Megan; siblings Ronald, Richard, Raymond and Diane; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Orleans Fire and Rescue.
