Robert W. Jeavons ’48
Robert W. Jeavons ’48 died on April 2 at Harvard Square in Denver. Bob was born May 25, 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio, and served in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II. After the war he completed his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth, where he was a member of Jack-O-Lantern and Alpha Delta/Alpha Delta Phi. He then earned a law degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Bob’s long career in investment management included work for Standard & Poor’s in its Denver and Chicago offices and for Central Bank & Trust Co. in Denver. He completed his business career by establishing and operating his own firm, Alpine Capital Management. He was very active in civic and charitable work, particularly with the National Arthritis Foundation, earning the Charles B. Harding Award for Distinguished Service in 1992 as a result of this commitment to research and care for the disease. Bob is survived by brother Norman; sons William, Christopher and Thomas from a first marriage to Mary Ellen; son Douglas from a 47-year second marriage to Coleen; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Bob remained an active supporter of Dartmouth and the class of 1948 as club president (1974-76), club secretary (1999-2003), class executive committee (1954-62), leadership agent (2001-10) and class agent (1995-2002).
