Robert W. Heine ’48

Robert W. Heine ’48 died peacefully at home in Brick, New Jersey, on June 28, 2013, surrounded by his family. Born in Newark, New Jersey, he grew up in Irvington, New Jersey, and lived in Hartford, Connecticut, Norfolk, Virginia, and Clifton and Sea Girt, New Jersey, before moving to Brick 28 years ago. Robert was Navy V-12 at Dartmouth and served as a first lieutenant from 1943 to 1946, after which he returned to Dartmouth and received his A.B. in mathematics. He pursued a career in the insurance industry and retired in 1989 as vice president of the Louis P. Pipi Agency in Wall, New Jersey. He was very active in his community and was chairman of many social events as well as a former trustee of the insurance committee. He was predeceased by parents Jacob and Anna Heine, son William and siblings Edgar and Julia. Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Marie; daughter Deborah and her husband, David; daughter Barbara and her husband, Robert; son Robert and his wife, Linda; daughter in-law Elizabeth; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
