Robert E. Hirschfield ’44

Robert E. Hirschfield ’44 of Bay City, Michigan, died on March 13. After Dartmouth he served in the Navy during World War II. Following his discharge, he joined his father in the family business, H. Hirschfield Sons Co. He was active in his community, serving on several boards as well as supporting the Boys and Girls Clubs, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the United Way of Bay County. In 1992 Bob was the recipient of the Helping Hand Award, and May 14 was proclaimed Bob Hirschfield Day in Bay City, in recognition of his outstanding citizenship. He is survived by his wife, Elaine “Binky,” and four children.
