Robert D. Wiley ’44

Robert D. Wiley ’44, M.D., died on April 29 in Laconia, New Hampshire. He graduated with a B.S. from Dartmouth in 1944 and received a two-year certificate from Dartmouth Medical School in 1945. He graduated with honors in obstetrics and gynecology from New York University School of Medicine. He interned at Mary Hitchcock Memorial from 1947 through 1949 and served his residency at Grace-New Haven Hospital at Yale. Dr. Wiley was a member of the staff of the Laconia Clinic from 1954 to 1991 and a member of the staff of Laconia Hospital from 1954 to 1989. He served twice as president of the Laconia Clinic and was a former president of the Laconia Hospital staff and chief of staff at Lakes Region General Hospital. During his practice he assisted in the delivery of more than 3,700 babies. His hobbies included golf, skiing and woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Cecile, and children Christopher ’74, Mark ’75, Suzanne Young ’77 and Jean Elliott.
