Richard J. Kornblum ’66

Richard J. Kornblum ’66 passed away on February 23 surrounded by his wife and children at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston from complications after a lengthy cardiac surgery. A graduate of Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak, New York, Rick earned three Dartmouth degrees, an A.B. in 1966 and an A.B. and master’s in computer science and industrial automation from Thayer School during the next two years. At the College he was a member of Tabard and played football and rugby. Rick spent many years working as an executive engineer, managing the development of international state of the art process control systems at the Foxboro Co., GTE Telenet, and POMS (later Raytheon and Honeywell) and consulted with pharmaceutical and startup technology companies. After retirement Rick enjoyed researching history and teaching courses about the life of FDR at the Cape Cod Community College Academy of Lifelong Learning and spending time on his boat and at Sampson’s Island in Cotuit Bay, Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter Jacqueline and her husband, Stephen; son Robert ’91 and his wife, Susanna ’91; daughter Katherine; stepson Christopher and his wife, Denise; and grandchildren Davis, Alex, Christopher, Mia, and Michael.
