Richard Henry Leukart II ’64

Richard Henry Leukart II ’64 of Hudson, Ohio, died on May 2, 2010. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he graduated from Shaker Heights (Ohio) High School, where he played on the varsity basketball and golf teams. At Dartmouth Dick majored in economics and was heavily influenced by professor John Kemeny, who instilled in Dick a lifelong appreciation for computer technology. He was a member of the golf team, the Glee Club and Tabard. Before leaving Hanover, Dick attended Tuck. After Dartmouth Dick went to the University of Michigan Law School, from which he graduated in 1966. Initially he worked in tax law, but soon was attracted to labor law, where he spent most of his career representing major corporations and family-owned businesses. He led a group of 50 lawyers in the labor and employment practice at Baker & Hostetler, a company he assisted in development of an affiliate consulting firm. He was always an avid golfer and served on club boards. He also liked to snorkel with his family at their vacation home on St. John. Dick leaves his wife, Barbara, and children Hank ’01, Brian, Kate, Jen and Lisa. For more information, go here.
