Richard B. Leavitt ’57

Richard B. Leavitt ’57 passed away in Beverly Hills, California, on June 9, 2015. Dick came to Dartmouth from Beverly Hills, California, and Anacostia High School in 1953. At Dartmouth he majored in government and belonged to Gamma Delta Chi, the Pre-Law Club and the rowing club. He worked at WDCR and was on the varsity football and crew teams. After graduation he served briefly in the U.S. Air Force and received a graduate degree from Stanford Law School. Dick practiced law for more than 40 years, specializing in security transactions and arbitration. He was very active in community affairs, serving on the boards of several nonprofit organizations. After retiring he owned a professional minor league baseball team. Dick enjoyed reading, traveling, acting in stage productions, collecting art, tennis, golf and playing fast-pitch softball. Dick is survived by his wife, Roberta, two sons, a daughter and two grandchildren.
