Peter Edwin Roos ’54

Peter Edwin Roos ’54 passed away on July 17 in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Peter came to Dartmouth from Plymouth after graduating from Deerfield Academy. At Dartmouth he was a member of the Undergraduate Council, Council on Student Organizations, Public Relations Council and Press Club and was station manager of WDBS. He graduated from Thayer School of Engineering in 1955. He then worked for General Electric as a member of its manufacturing training program, working in Lynn, Massachusetts; Utica, New York; and Cincinnati, Ohio. Peter then attended Harvard Business School, graduating with an M.B.A. He was an electrical engineer and management consultant. In 1974 he joined H.K. Porter Inc. and settled in Concord, Massachusetts. He served H.K. Porter as president, chief operating officer and director. He retired from H.K. Porter in the mid-1980s, when he purchased a metal forming business. He retired in 2000 and began volunteering with the Executive Services Corp., a nonprofit that provides affordable consulting services to the nonprofit sector. In 2005 he moved to the family home in Plymouth. Peter was a former trustee of Somerville Hospital, past chair of the Somerville unit of the American Cancer Society and on the board of Concord Friends of the Aging. He was a trustee of the Pilgrim Society and Pilgrim Hall Museum. Peter is survived by his wife, Suzanne, son Edwin ’83 and daughter Emily.
