Patterson H. Pope Jr. ’36 died on February 5. He was a graduate of Mamaroneck (New York) High School and at Dartmouth was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa. In 1937 Pat was vice president and treasurer of Camlax Co. of New York City. On May 18, 1940, he and Sara Jones of Louisville, Kentucky, were married and in that year he became the sales manager for Jones Apothecary Inc. of Louisville. Except for service in the Air Force in World War II for two years, he remained in that position until 1951, when he became a partner in Pope-Bennett Drugs. In 1955 he entered the real estate business with Robert Adelberg Co., becoming manager of industrial and commercial sales. In 1964 he became a partner in Jansing-Pope Realtors and after his partner’s retirement he continued the business as H.P. Pope, Realtor. At his retirement he had been a member of the Louisville board of realtors for more than 40 years. Pat enjoyed playing golf and working on community projects with the Highlands Kiwanis Club, where he was a member for 57 years. He was also a member of his local Dartmouth club, serving as treasurer (1979-88) and as secretary (1983-88). Sara, his wife of 69 years, preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters Patty and Penelope, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and his sister Sally.
