Thomas J. Parnon ’76, Th’77

Issue

November-December 2026

Thomas J. Parnon ’76, Th’77 , passed away August 19 after a brief illness. His fun-loving and welcoming nature drew in those he met, and he developed many friendships through each chapter of his life. These included captaining the varsity football and lacrosse teams at Dartmouth, attending Harvard Business School, leading several local information technology businesses, and being involved in the Darien, Connecticut, community for more than 45 years. Tom was a loyal son of Dartmouth and ’76, serving as a class officer from 1987 to 2008 and as an Alumni Fund volunteer for many years. Above all, Tom prioritized his family. At Dartmouth he met Debbie Sotor ’79, who became his wife for 47 years. They built a strong family and community wherever they went. Tom’s selflessness and impact on others was immeasurable. Although his decline was sudden, Tom received an outpouring of support from those he touched through the years, with one sharing, “You have always been one of the great ones. You’re leaving the world a better place.” Tom is survived by Debbie; children Russell, Eric, and Geoffrey; grandson Nolan; brothers Mike and Fred; and countless family and friends.
