Harry R. Zlokower ’63, an outstanding class secretary for 43 years, died on October 25, 2025, in New York City of complications from heart problems. At Dartmouth he majored in English; was involved with Pi Lam, WDCR (co-sports director) all four years, and Le Cercle Français; and spent a term at the Université de Caen in France. He was an admissions and Alumni Fund volunteer. After Dartmouth Harry taught French and English in his hometown middle school, then earned a master’s in English in 1966 at New York University and married Roberta. In 1968 he began a journalism career with The New York Times and in 1971 became the publicity coordinator for Queensborough Community College in Queens. Harry later returned to Manhattan and moved up in the public relations field with various companies until in 1983 he opened his own PR firm, eventually winning the Big Apple Award and becoming the president of the New York chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Perhaps more impressive were Harry’s efforts for Dartmouth and the class of 1963. He won the 1985 Class Secretary of the Year Award. He never missed a deadline in Class Notes for 42 years and wrote many of the Soaring Pine Awards since its inception in 1988 and then won that award at his 55th reunion. After divorcing in 1982, Harry married Nicole in 1986, who survives him along with their son, a son from his first marriage, and a son of Nicole’s.
