Harold R. Burdge Jr. ’60

Harold R. Burdge Jr. ’60 passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2016. Hal was born in Teaneck, New Jersey, grew up in West Englewood, New Jersey, and graduated from Teaneck High School prior to matriculating at Dartmouth. While at Dartmouth Hal was a member of Alpha Chi Rho, which he served as treasurer. During his undergraduate years he was a member of Kappa Phi Kappa, served on the Interdormitory Council and his dormitory committee for two years. Following his graduation from Dartmouth with a major in history, Hal earned his M.A.T. at Wesleyan University. He began his teaching career at Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, in 1961, eventually becoming a member of the administrative staff and ultimately retiring as school business manager for the Union County Regional Board of Education. Following his retirement, he worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block. Hal was a huge sports enthusiast, a fierce competitor, and possessed of a kind and fair nature. Hal is survived by Sandy, his wife of 55 years, sister Janice and brother-in-law Gil.
