Richard W. Enholm ’63
Richard W. Enholm ’63 passed away on July 12 in Tucson, Arizona, where he lived with his wife, Susan, since 1986. Richard was from Milton, Massachusetts, and attended Milton High School, where he participated in several sports, cocaptained the soccer team, and was active in the yearbook, dramatics, and the magazine. At Dartmouth he majored in economics, was a brother of Alpha Chi Rho (rush chairman), was active planning Winter Carnival with the Dartmouth Outing Club, and was a member of the Economics Club and Omicron Delta Epsilon, where he was secretary-treasurer. Richard was an alumni interviewer for many years as well as a fraternity agent. He combined his fourth year with Tuck School and received his M.B.A. in 1965. After a period with the Coast Guard Reserve, which often meant pulling novice sailors out of Long Island Sound, Richard used a six-month period to see the 100 most important U.S. scenic and historic sights, spending only $1,200 (which included the purchase of a Nash Rambler). Much of the following years were spent in consumer marketing and sales: three years with Benton and Bowles Advertising, five years with Squibb, eight years with American Optical, and seven years with Foster Grant. He navigated a series of leveraged buyouts, the last being the sale of Foster Grant. Richard served on the local board of health and was a fundraiser for United Way. He is survived by Susan and one son.
