Class Note 2001
September-October 2025
Happy end-of-summer, ’01s. Calling all advanced planners! We are excited to announce that we are less than a year away from our 25th reunion! Stay tuned for details but consider this a “Save the Date” for the official ’01 return to Dartmouth June 18-21, 2026. If you want the fun to start even earlier, consider getting involved in the planning by emailing dartmouthclass2001@gmail.com.
In the meantime, there are updates to share. Mara Tieken has a new book, Educated Out: How Rural Students Navigate Elite Colleges—and What It Costs Them, published by the University of Chicago Press. Mara follows the journeys of nine rural, first-generation students at an elite college and finds that geography is an often-overlooked factor that shapes student experiences and opportunities in higher education.
Miena Meek Hall wrote in with a great update. She shared, “I am finishing a T32 postdoctoral research fellowship at University of Wisconsin-Madison and starting a new position in July as director of scientific affairs at the Mothers’ Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes as well as opening a private breastfeeding and lactation medicine practice, LactationMD, in the western suburbs of Chicago. My eldest son, Xander, 23, is an astrophysics graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University; daughter Aubrey, 20, is majoring in biomedical engineering at Georgia Tech; son Eamon, 16, is an aspiring trombonist playing in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras’ philharmonic and jazz orchestras; and youngest daughter Neala,13, is a synchronized figure skater with the Dazzlers intermediate team.”
Congrats to all!
