Class Note 2024
Issue
July-August 2025
Happy summer, ’24s! Can you believe it’s already been a year since we graduated from Dartmouth? Time really does fly—criminally fast, if you ask me. For those of you deep in the working world, consider this your friendly reminder to schedule that much-deserved PTO. It’s time to prove to your European friends (and that little voice in your head) that you do practice work-life balance. To spark some vacation inspiration, this edition of Class Notes features the adventures of three of our intrepid classmates.
First up, Madeline Sawyer, who’s currently completing a fellowship in international security at the Dickey Center, visited the United Kingdom earlier this year to reunite with fellow ’24s Katelyn Hadley and Adithi Jayaraman (who’s pursuing grad school at Cambridge). One of Madeline’s favorite memories from their time in London was touring the Tower of London and climbing the stairs of St. Paul’s Cathedral for a stunning aerial view of the city. The trio also visited Oxford—where Madeline had previously studied on exchange—and made their way to Paris for even more fun and adventure.
Izzy Kam, who’s pursuing an M.E. at Thayer, has embraced this bonus year to deepen her studies, explore new passions, and say “yes” to the occasional spontaneous adventure. During spring break Izzy and four Thayer classmates (including Rebecca Liu) pulled off quite the escapade. “Submitting our final assignments from the airport, we embarked on a two-week, four-country extravaganza” writes Izzy. “We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day on the vibrant streets of Dublin, experienced new cultures from the lively souks of Marrakesh, witnessed unforgettable views amid the diverse biomes of the Canary Islands, and refined our palettes within the glorious culinary scene of Portugal. Rejuvenated rather than drained by our adventure, we returned to school with high spirits, thrilling tales, and enviable suntans!”
Apparently, Ireland was the place to be—Sara Pickrell also ventured there for a six-day trip, visiting Westport, Galway, and Dublin. In addition to spending time with extended family, Sara impressively completed the Westport Marathon, running along Ireland’s scenic coast and past Croagh Patrick, a revered mountain and pilgrimage site honoring Saint Patrick.
So what are you waiting for? Call up your friends, pack your bags, and hit the road!
