Eliot Swift Lawrence ’55

Eliot Swift Lawrence ’55 died on March 8 in Falmouth, Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; children Marcia, Stephen, and James; stepchildren Felicia, Kim, and Buddy; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. “Swifty” was raised in Falmouth and came to Dartmouth from Tabor Academy. He majored in English and was a member of Theta Delta Chi, Dragon Society, Undergraduate Council, and the lacrosse team. After graduation Swifty served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He returned to Hanover and earned an M.B.A. from Tuck Business School. He had a distinguished career as a banker, including the presidency of the Falmouth National Bank, founded by his great-grandfather. Swifty was president of the Alumni Council in 1977.
