Morton H. Morrison ’47

Morton H. Morrison ’47 of Hobe Sound, Florida, and Newbury, New Hampshire, died April 25 in Stuart, Florida, of lung cancer. He was born in Boston September 26, 1926, grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts, and attended Springfield Technical High School. He joined the class in the V-12 unit, majored in international studies, played football and was a member of Sphinx. He completed his naval service during the Korean War. In 1960 he founded Morrison Plywood in Worcester, Massachusetts, and served as president and treasurer until he retired in the 1990s. He served two terms on the Auburn, Massachusetts, school board, one as chairman. He was active in regional college clubs, serving as secretary (1977-83), president (1977-79), College Fund leadership committee member (1981-82), job development advisor (1975-77) and admissions interviewer (1991). In retirement he and his wife spent their time between Hobe Sound and Newbury. He is survived by his wife and five daughters.
