Michael Robert McClintock ’80
Michael Robert McClintock ’80 died on June 2 in Larchmont, New York. Born on August 20, 1957, in Minneapolis, to Aileen and the late George McClintock, Mike married Cynthia Ann Crowley in 1986 on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. Together they had children Christina, Clare and William. Mike arrived at Dartmouth from Blake School in Hopkins, Minnesota. An Eagle Scout, Mike canoed the route from Saskatchewan, Canada, to Lake Superior for his honors thesis on the Canadian fur trade. Mike earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He worked in the financial institutions group at Macquarie Capital as senior director. Previously he held senior positions at FBR Capital, CIBC Capital, Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan. Mike was chairman of the board of Merchants Bank of Rugby, North Dakota, established by his great-grandfather in 1897. Before freshman week was out Mike had become one of the best-known and best-liked members of our class. Mike served as class president, head agent, reunion giving chair and president of the Association of Alumni. He was largely responsible for the large checks delivered to College presidents at reunion. The College recognized Mike by inducting him into the Stephen F. Mandel ’52 Society. An avid skier, biker and golfer, Mike recently completed his first Olympic-length triathlon. We most remember Mike for being a devoted husband, wonderful father and sincere and loyal friend. He was always available to give good advice, a hug or a compassionate ear. Mike spent a lifetime giving to others; we miss him.
