Loren Charles Spademan Jr. ’48

Loren Charles Spademan Jr. ’48 died at home in Norwich, Vermont, of complications of Alzheimer’s on February 11. He came on campus in 1944 in the Navy V-12 program from Highland Park (Michigan) High School. He majored in English and completed his Tuck School degree in 1949. In 1954 he married Susan Speed Hubbard. For 30 years Loren worked for J.L. Hudson Co., the Detroit-based department store chain, retiring as general manager of its Toledo, Ohio, store. Loren and Susan traveled extensively in a motor home across the United States, pursuing an interest in art in public places, settling back in the Upper Valley in 1951. They purchased a real estate company in Quechee, Vermont, dealing in sales and vacation rental properties, from which they retired eight years ago. He is survived by Susan and children Charles, William ’79 and Sarah.
