Lester B. Kinnamon Jr. ’51
Lester B. Kinnamon Jr. ’51, M.D., died December 7, 2014, in Woodland, California. He was attracted to Dartmouth from his hometown of Charleston, West Virginia, by his love of the outdoors. That theme was a major focus of his time in Hanover and through the years that followed. At Dartmouth “Larry” was active in the Outing Club, Cabin & Trail and the Winter Sports Council. He was also a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa and Dartmouth Players. He was a chemistry-zoology major and a Rufus Choate scholar. Larry went on to medical school at the University of Pennsylvania and a residency in psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco. His practice included many years at the Santa Clara County Department of Mental Health and at Agnews State Hospital, both near his longtime home in Sunnyvale, California. He was a member of the Northern California Psychiatric Society. He enjoyed an active lifestyle that included mountain climbing, sailing, skiing and playing tennis. Other lifelong interests included opera, ballet, bridge and playing the piano. Larry’s wife, Alice, predeceased him. He is survived by two daughters and two grandchildren.
