A. Lauriston Parks ’57

A. Lauriston Parks ’57 passed away in Wickford, Rhode Island, on September 6, 2010, of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. “Larry” grew up in Lincoln, Rhode Island, graduated from the Moses Brown School and entered Dartmouth in 1953. He left Dartmouth during his freshman year. He graduated from Kent State in 1958 and got his law degree from the University of Chicago in 1961. Larry had a distinguished law career in Rhode Island for 49 years, retiring in 2010. He was commodore of the Saunderstown Yacht Club, chairman of the North Kingstown Republican Party, state chair of the American College of Trial Lawyers and master of the Adelphi Masonic Lodge. He was very active in the Episcopal Church and the Society of Colonial Wars. He had a passion for sailing and sailed up and down the New England coast in his sloop, Chickasheen, for 19 years. Larry leaves his wife, Martha, two sons, one daughter and seven grandchildren.
